Supplier Diversity

Fontana Water Company maintains a Utility Supplier Diversity Program (USDP) in accordance with the California Public Utilities Commission’s (CPUC) General Order 156 (GO 156). The purpose of this program is to promote the recruitment and use of women and minority-owned business enterprises (WMBE), as well as disabled-veteran owned business enterprises (DVBE) and LGBT owned business enterprises in Fontana Water Company’s California procurement activities.

To aid in achieving the diversity goals set forth in GO 156, participating utilities established a joint clearinghouse to verify and then certify vendors for this program. Qualified suppliers are encouraged to contact the Supplier Clearinghouse in order to begin the verification process. For information on the service-disabled veteran-owned business certification process, please visit the California Department of General Services. Once certified, the vendor’s contact information is entered into a database visible to all participating utilities as a certified diverse vendor.

Fontana Water Company utilizes the established guidelines from the CPUC to qualify diverse suppliers and requires certification by the Supplier Clearinghouse. Diverse suppliers are defined as a business enterprise that is at least 51 percent owned, managed, and controlled by one or more of the following:

  • Women
  • Minorities: African-American, Hispanic-American, Native-American, or Asian-American
  • Service-Disabled Veterans
  • Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual or Transgender Individuals
